According to IDC analysis and buyer perception, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is positioned in the Leaders category in this 2021 IDC MarketScape for worldwide AI IT services.

AI IT services are a critical component of HPE’s strategy to become an “edge to cloud platform as a service” company. With 23,000+ global experts, HPE Pointnext Services deliver 11,000+ IT projects per year across 200 countries.

The company positions its HPE Pointnext Services experts to play a key role in leading complex AI and data projects, managing and integrating solutions with the broader AI ecosystem, and operating AI and data infrastructure–as-a-service consumption-based models with HPE GreenLake.

HPE’s AI IT services offerings span three phases: explore (workshops, assessments, and education), experiment (pilots, proof-of-value services, and bundled solutions), and evolve (detailed design integration, deployment, support, and consumption services).

The company’s pre-integrated AI at the edge solutions address industry-aligned use cases and include HPE hardware, HPE Ezmeral software, partner technology, and delivery from HPE Pointnext Services, as well as best practices and recommended configurations based on prior projects.

HPE also offers its Data Science Startup Service and data transformation services to ensure clients have a secure data foundation across people, process, and technology dimensions to drive faster execution and operationalization of AI solutions.

HPE continues to invest in AI capabilities with its recent acquisitions of Cray HPC, Determined AI, and Ampool while being committed to the responsible, ethical development and deployment of AI.

Buyers rated HPE highly for its ability to provide technical insights and competency, work with hardware and software product partners or other services providers, and showcase or codevelop relevant use cases for AI solutions. IDC considers HPE’s end-to-end life cycle of AI IT services portfolio and strategies around marketing, customer retention, IP monetization, innovation and R&D, and employee skills as key strengths.

IDC believes HPE’s go-to-market strategy could be improved further with more collaboration with customers on go-to-market initiatives, as well as deeper relationships (such as joint venture) with existing alliance partners. HPE could also benefit from exploring opportunities to collaborate with multiple AI ecosystem partners on go-to-market initiatives and gaining partner recognition of its AI services practice.
